A Message from a Youth Camper (Mira MacQuaid), Her Mom and Dad

On December 1, 2019 at our Annual Christmas Auction, Elaine Jeffrey, Past President of Ostomy Halifax Society read this very nice email from Jennifer McQuaid, the mother of Mira:

“Hello everyone,

We planned on attending today, but due to some poor weather in our area we were unable to leave in time to make it. Mira is 14 from PEI and has an ileostomy. Going to camp was never an option for Mira because of her medical needs, so we are very grateful that she had the opportunity to go to a camp that was tailored to her needs. Mira had an amazing experience. Going to a camp where there were so many people she can relate with did wonders for her confidence. Camp has been a regular topic of conversation since she came home, and we love seeing her excitement and enthusiasm. We are all very grateful to Ostomy Halifax for Mira's opportunity to go to camp. She is already excited to go back next year. Thank you from all of us.

Mira and the many other wonderful young people (and families and friends supporting them) inspire and motivate Ostomy Halifax volunteers to raise money and help send youth to Ostomy Camp every year.
